The Music Blog of the Infonistacrat!

AN REM HOLIDAY WEEKEND!

I’m sitting here in the Detroit airport, waiting on my wifes plane to get in from Cali, and decided that instead of working, it would be better to listen to some music, write up a post, and have a little fun. I can only take work so long, and besides, everyone else in my [...]

SHUFFLING THE iPOD, DAY 3

Posted by Infonistacrat on Thursday, July 2nd, 2009

Last day in a hotel room for a few days…tomorrow, I am heading home. Sometimes, even with the roughest of jobs, you get a week where the stars align, the universe opens up, and everything goes well. It doesn’t happen often, but when it does, it’s a beautiful thing. And make no [...]

BACK TO THE FUTURE, I GUESS

Posted by Infonistacrat on Monday, June 29th, 2009

Well, I had the new theme up for a bit, but there were a few tweaks I just could not get worked out. Mainly, I simply could not get it to work with Wordpress Stats. There were a few other things that kind of bugged the hell out of me, that I could [...]

FOR THOSE THAT WANT TO ROCK….ENTER!!!

Posted by Infonistacrat on Thursday, September 4th, 2008

Yesterday was a brutally mid numbing day of dealing with a customer that won’t listen to reason, and insists on making demands based on inadequate or incomplete requirements. As an IT architect, I live and die by requirements, and the solutions I give to a customer is only as good as the requirements given to me. So I had a monster headache yesterday, and had a need to put together a list to bang my head to. Most of the tunes are from late 90’s and early 00’s, and are pretty much from that era when alternative started to turn into that nu-metal stuff. It’s all good, all aggressive, and all rockin’. Enjoy!

  1. Staind – For You
  2. Disturbed – Voices
  3. Everclear – You Make Me Feel Like A Whore
  4. Primus – John The Fisherman
  5. Dinosaur Jr. – Out There
  6. Sebadoh – Violet Ececution
  7. Rocket From The Crypt – Can You Hear It
  8. Eels – Not Ready Yet
  9. Reverand Horton Heat – I Can’t Surf
  10. Pennywise – Fuck Authority

    fuck authority is one of the best fuck you tunes of all time, never fails to cheer me up when faced the massed gormlessness of the people i have to work with, does playing a tune like fuck authority when you are in a position of authority count as zen?

    I hate the term “nu-”anything. I like this music a lot though. Staind and Everclear especially. I have several tattooed hot rod friends that really like Reverend Horton Heat. Faith No More is possibly my favorite in this flavor.

    Robert Lindsey’s last blog post..McCain Picks Palin, I Wonder…

    @Robert Lindsey:

    I had never even heard of the whole “nu-” thing until about 9 months ago. I always jus thought it was the natural progression of alternative getting a little harder as time went by.

    I’m with you…I am not a metal fan, but I generally love to crank this stuff up.

    @A.J:

    I don’t know about zen, but it’s one hell of a great dose of irony! I’m in the same boat there…I’m in a position of authority at work, but I still think like that young punk I was at 18…and that song pretty much says it all.

  5. Jim Says:

    I always thought that the “nu-” should have an umlaut like Motley Crüe … “nü-metal.”

    @Jim:

    Now see, that makes a lot of sense, and it also takes me back to 1980 and my German I class!

    As an IT Architect you should know you’re supposed to build what I mean, not what I write down or say. Come on!

    @Jeff:

    lol That made my week! That’s pretty much the mode I’ve been operating in for the past 2 weeks. Which is fine…I mean, that is pretty much what they pay me for. Anyone can do what their told…figuring out what someone really means is a whole other talent!
