WELCOME TO MY BRITPOP FRIDAY!

August 22nd, 2008 · 5 Comments

I’m finally on my way home today, driving back to my little hamlet in the middle of Michigan. And what better way to travel than to listen to a little Brit-pop? I have never hidden the fact that I am a serious American anglophile. While America certainly has had it’s share of great music, to me, the music of the British Isle’s is where it’s at. So, enjoy a little look at some great Brit-pop!

  1. Blur - Universal
  2. The Boo Radleys - The Old Newsstand at Hamilton Square
  3. Radiohead - Thinking About You
  4. Pulp - Can I Have My Balls Back, Please?
  5. Elastica - Waking Up
  6. Lush - Ciao!
  7. The Auteurs - Junk Shop Cloths
  8. Super Furry Animals - Frisbee
  9. Spacehog - Starside
  10. Sleeper - What Do I Do Now?

    I actually used to know a couple of rather rabid Britpoppers from Michigan. They used to drive down to Chicago for gigs back in the mid-’90’s since all the bands came through Chicago but very few made it up to Detroit.

    Ahh, those were the days…..

    @Brett Anderson CD Review:

    Chicago in the 90’s was THE place to be for music, that’s for damn sure. I had a blast there. As for Detroit…that’s pretty much garage rock, which isn’t a bad thing, just different. Michigan really only has ever had one decent music, and that’s Ann Arbor.
