AN REM HOLIDAY WEEKEND!

Posted by Infonistacrat on Friday, July 3rd, 2009

I’m sitting here in the Detroit airport, waiting on my wifes plane to get in from Cali, and decided that instead of working, it would be better to listen to some music, write up a post, and have a little fun. I can only take work so long, and besides, everyone else in my [...]

SHUFFLING THE iPOD, DAY 3

Posted by Infonistacrat on Thursday, July 2nd, 2009

Last day in a hotel room for a few days…tomorrow, I am heading home. Sometimes, even with the roughest of jobs, you get a week where the stars align, the universe opens up, and everything goes well. It doesn’t happen often, but when it does, it’s a beautiful thing. And make no [...]

BACK TO THE FUTURE, I GUESS

Posted by Infonistacrat on Monday, June 29th, 2009

Well, I had the new theme up for a bit, but there were a few tweaks I just could not get worked out. Mainly, I simply could not get it to work with Wordpress Stats. There were a few other things that kind of bugged the hell out of me, that I could [...]

A FEW OF MY FAVORITE THINGS, PART 1

Posted by Infonistacrat on Monday, July 7th, 2008

I thought this week I would dedicate to some of the music I’ve been rockin’ to lately. Trust me, musically, I am all over the place, and week to week, my favorite change, almost with the wind. It also depends on what I’m doing, believe it or not…certain things, I kind of always listen to the same thing. For instance…when I’m mowing my yard, I pretty much listen to one of two albums…Placebo’s Once More With Feeling or Pixies’ Wave Of Mutilation, their greatest hits album. Both are about an hour long, which is exactly how long it takes me to mow. When I’m lifting weights, it’s all grunge…the more aggressive, the better. (I’m LOVE power lifting as a stress reliever…nothing like lifting 500 lbs. off the floor to put things into perspective).

So, lately, I’ve mentioned that I’ve been listening to a few bands more than others…Lou Reed and/or The Velvet Underground has really grabbed my attention, especially Transformer. Second is David Bowie, mainly The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stadust and the Spiders From Mars, and his Singles Collection. So of course, they both make their way onto the list. As do the above mentioned Pixies and Placebo. Placebo is a band that pretty much puzzles me as to why they never really hit it bigger in the states. I know in Europe they have a pretty large following, but aside from Every You Every Me, they are relatively unknown here. We have odd taste in the states I guess…no talent ass clowns like Avril Lavigne hit it big, but quality bands don’t.

Notice Radiohead has two songs here…Planet Telex is standard Radiohead fare…brilliant and way ahead of it’s time. But the gem of the list is their cover of New Order’s Ceremony. Again, brilliant and wonderful, and a fine cover. If your in the mood, enjoy the video…it’s totally worth the time. Enjoy!

  1. Fiction Factory – Feels Like Heaven
  2. Radiohead – Planet Telex
  3. Radiohead – Ceremony
  4. Pixies – Gouge Away
  5. David Bowie – Suffragette City
  6. Interpol – No I In Threesome
  7. Placebo – Twenty Years
  8. Frank Black – Space Is Gonna Do Me Good
  9. Lou Reed – NYC Man
  10. Haircut 100 – Favourite Shirt (Boy Meets Girl)

OK DJ Info, why do you insist on knocking my world upside down? More importantly, is there a group that *hasn’t* done a cover of “Ceremony?” ;-)

Radiohead does a superb job (did I just say that…for the second time on this blog?). Thank you for slowly converting me into a covers fan. you rock! :-)

    @MissParker0106:

I’m slowly trying to convert the whole world into loving covers! As for Ceremony, it’s easily one of the best tunes form that era, but I’ve heard some pretty bad covers of it.

However, just wait until tomorrow…COVERS GALORE! :-) By the way, your latest post is absolutely one of the best you’ve done. STTSW is an amazing band and having Payola$ is a HUGE bonus! Great job.

Wow – just for that wonderful comment at the end, I’ll promise to love every cover you throw my way. ;-)

Seriously, thanks for making my day.
