AN REM HOLIDAY WEEKEND!

Posted by Infonistacrat on Friday, July 3rd, 2009

I’m sitting here in the Detroit airport, waiting on my wifes plane to get in from Cali, and decided that instead of working, it would be better to listen to some music, write up a post, and have a little fun. I can only take work so long, and besides, everyone else in my [...]

SHUFFLING THE iPOD, DAY 3

Posted by Infonistacrat on Thursday, July 2nd, 2009

Last day in a hotel room for a few days…tomorrow, I am heading home. Sometimes, even with the roughest of jobs, you get a week where the stars align, the universe opens up, and everything goes well. It doesn’t happen often, but when it does, it’s a beautiful thing. And make no [...]

BACK TO THE FUTURE, I GUESS

Posted by Infonistacrat on Monday, June 29th, 2009

Well, I had the new theme up for a bit, but there were a few tweaks I just could not get worked out. Mainly, I simply could not get it to work with Wordpress Stats. There were a few other things that kind of bugged the hell out of me, that I could [...]

EVEN MORE ALTERNATIVE DEEPCUTS, VOL 2

Posted by Infonistacrat on Wednesday, June 25th, 2008

Well, I survived terrible Tuesday yesterday, a day that unfortunately, I spend on the phone at work. A more miserable experience I can’t imagine. Well, yeah I could. I could still be working in that little factory in Ohio I worked in back in the mid-80’s. THAT would be worse.

So, anyway, on to the deep cuts. One of the reasons I really love deep cuts (defined as singles from an album that were never really meant to be released as singles), is that you really get a true feel for the artist. Usually, their not songs that are created only to be released as singles. Some of the best tunes I’ve found are tunes that were never release, and were buried on the “B” side of the world. Enjoy!

  1. The Cardigans – Explode
  2. Suede – Saturday Night
  3. Ned’s Atomic Dustbin – Happy
  4. Pulp – Can I Have My Balls Back, Please?
  5. The Wannadies – Friends
  6. Placebo – Song To Say Goodbye
  7. Pixies – I Bleed
  8. Longpigs – She Said
  9. Elastica – Blue
  10. The Divine Comedy – Life On Mars

*Pulp* – Jarvis Cocker is simply the best – his subtle (no, make that in-your-face) humor is unsurpassed. Thanks for the grins on this dreary morning.

Also, you are making me a believer of covers…the “Life on Mars” cover by Divine Comedy is every bit as good as the Bowie original – and this is coming from a (very) longtime Bowie fan.

    Have a wonderful day. :-)

    @MissParker0106:

I just discovered the Life on Mars cover myself, and when I heard it, I knew I had to find a way to work it to a post. The line “Mickey Mouse has grown up a cow” is just great stuff. Like you, I love Bowie…he’s one of the great song writers of all time.
