The Music Blog of the Infonistacrat!

I did a list last month of some of the great music from the alternation nation, a term that was coined by Perry Farrell early in the 90’s. If the alternative nation did exist, this is the music of that great nation. There are a couple bands of note on todays list that were stellar alternative bands that really never got the attention they deserved. Among those bands you have to could The Afgan Whigs and Superchunk. But even better than these two, in my humble opinion, was Swervedriver. Swervedriver was everthing you could want in an alternative band…great songs played loud with mind numbing intensity. Definitely been a favorite of mine for a long time now.

Also on the list is a song I honestly forgot all about, but as I remember was a pretty huge hit back in 91 or 92. Bad Religion’s put out a lot of great music in their time, but for some reason 21st Century Digital Boy really struck a nerve. At the time it came out, I had been out of the Navy for about a year or so, and was in Engineering school, so the song kind of became a theme of sorts for me.

The video is a great one by the Breeders. Saints is a rockin’ song, one of my favorites by them. The video has a version of the song that’s different than the album version. At first it appears that the song is not in sync with the video, but it’s not supposed to be. Kim Deal looks great in the video, as does her sister Kelly. Summer is ready if you are!
