PUNK, POST PUNK AND NEW WAVE HITS, VOL. 1
After a few days of new wave, I thought I would switch it up a little bit, and go back to rockin’ the punk 77 way. The next few days should be called the progression. Most of the songs I’ve chosen are a fusion of the three genres, with a little bit of ska thrown in to boot. Today, I chosen some really great tunes by some of the best bands of the late 70’s early 80’s. One that I didn’t really know about until very recently is Alberto Y Los Trios Paranoias. I’ve only heard a couple songs by them, mainly what I’ve found on various sites, but I like what I’ve heard, and am definitely on the lookout for more. So you know, if you know where there’s more, go ahead and hit me up!
Other than that, lots of well known acts here. The Buzzcocks, The Clash, Bauhaus, and for a little two tone twist, a little Madness. Also here is a group I’ve been listening to a lot lately, The Undertones. Here Comes The Summer certainly seems to be an apropos song about now. That’s if the weather holds. It’s months like April that I wish I still lived in Florida. A few years back, when I still lived down there, by this time of the year, I had already burned, healed, and then had a great tan. You cannot believe how badly I miss that damn sun and a nice pool!
The video today is Bauhaus, doing one of my favorite covers of all time. I love Ziggy Stardust; as a song, it’s just a great masterpiece. The dark little twist that Bauhaus puts on it makes it an even better song. Enjoy!
