RANDOM GREAT ALTERNATIVE/UNDERGROUND/CCOLLEGE ROCK

April 11th, 2008 · 5 Comments

More than any other list I’ve every done, todays pretty much represents my life right now. This list is chaotic…ranging from mellow Velvet underground’s Sunday Morning to the Violent Femmes to Possum Dixon to the absolute chaos of Scratch Acid. This has been a week of swimming in mud for me. I think I’m starting to see some day light at the end of the tunnel, but I’m pretty much exhausted.

As for the site, I made some progress in getting some back posts corrected. I managed to restore 4 posts today. I know that doesn’t sound like a lot, but considering that it’s taking about an hour per post to restore, mainly because of upload times, thats not bad. Remember, I have a pretty demanding day job that also take a lot of time. I never thought in my wildest dreams I would have to be doing 5 posts a day! So anyway, I’m making progress.

The video today is Sonic Youth’s Teenage Riot. I’ll admit that I’m not the biggest Sonic Youth fan…in there heyday I was listening to a lot of other stuff. Not that I didn’t listen to them…I just can’t say I was a huge fan. Given that, as I get older, and listen to them more, I appreciate them much more than before. So anyway, the video is pretty good, and the song is a classic. So fire up the iPod, and enjoy!

    The Dramarama song never ceases to make me smile any time I hear it on Sirius 22’s First Wave station.

    Thanks again for all of your hard work. Hope this will all be behind you soon. TGIF

    @MissParker0106:

    Yeah, that’s a great song that so easy to forget about. I’m trying to remember, but I think someone on Amercian Idol covered it last year (how sad is it that I even watch that show?!?), and completely mangled it. I remember when they sang it, my wife immediately looked at me and asked what song that was. I told her I had no clue what they were actually singing, but I let her listen to the song they were TRYING to sing. :-)

    Hope you have a great weekend in the sunshine!

    Ive been researching for emo songs that are not typical like FallOutBoy or Panic at the Disco. This list is the best. Very underground. Not so well known emo band but great songs nonetheless.
