AN REM HOLIDAY WEEKEND!

Posted by Infonistacrat on Friday, July 3rd, 2009

I’m sitting here in the Detroit airport, waiting on my wifes plane to get in from Cali, and decided that instead of working, it would be better to listen to some music, write up a post, and have a little fun. I can only take work so long, and besides, everyone else in my [...]

SHUFFLING THE iPOD, DAY 3

Posted by Infonistacrat on Thursday, July 2nd, 2009

Last day in a hotel room for a few days…tomorrow, I am heading home. Sometimes, even with the roughest of jobs, you get a week where the stars align, the universe opens up, and everything goes well. It doesn’t happen often, but when it does, it’s a beautiful thing. And make no [...]

BACK TO THE FUTURE, I GUESS

Well, I had the new theme up for a bit, but there were a few tweaks I just could not get worked out. Mainly, I simply could not get it to work with Wordpress Stats. There were a few other things that kind of bugged the hell out of me, that I could [...]

A WEEKEND OF ALTERNATIVE MUSIC, DAY ONE

Posted by Infonistacrat on Saturday, March 22nd, 2008

A couple days ago, I did a list of music from the alternative nation, and you know what? I really enjoyed it. It had been awhile since I had posted a strictly alternative post. That one not only was alternative, but it had a little attitude to it. So I thought I would do another list, and this time show a little of the diversity of the alternative scenes.

In that vein, I got a little bit of everything here. I got some shoegaze. I got some grunge. I got some 80’s underground. Some post punk. I’m pretty excited about this list…all the songs are really great songs. starting with one of my favorite songs of the 90’s, Radiohead’s Fake Plastic Trees. It’s almost a perfect song, from the lyrics to the arrangement. While Creep is the song Radiohead is known for, I think this is the best of their 90’s stuff.

And speaking of shoegaze, one of my favorite shoegaze bands, Lush, is here. Now, I don’t want to go off on a rant, but am I the only one who noticed that a certain no talent ass clown skater wannabe Canadian female rocker pretty blatantly ripped off the hook of one of Lush’s best songs? Listen to the hook in I Wanna Be Your Girlfriend, and tell me that doesn’t sound like the hook in this poser’s recent “hit”. And this girl is supposed to be such a talented songwriter. Please.

Ok, so that’s off my chest. I guess I’m a little cranky. I just started lifting again, after a couple months off to rest my old joints, and I’m sore as hell. Enjoy the weekend, and enjoy the tunes!

Now this is some good music! Especially the great Trashcan Sinatras — so underrated.

Anyways — you are not the only one to notice the rip-off of “I Wanna Be Your Girlfriend” — read the final paragraph of Lush’s bio on Wikipedia!:
