CHICKS THAT ROCK! THE 80′S

Second day of my look at some of the women of rock. Today, the glorious decade of the 80’s, and some of the women who made it a great decade in music. Because I have the flu, and feel more like sleeping than I do writing, I’ll leave it to you to explore. My nod to the movies Goonies is in here. I know, it was a cheesy 80’s movie, but for some reason, I love cheesy 80’s movies, and I love the Goonies. Something about a treasure hunt that appeals to the young Jim Hawkins inside me that never grew up. When I was a kid, THAT movie was exactly the kinds of games we would play. And yes, Treasure Island was my favorite book as a kid…thus the Jim Hawkins reference. Enjoy the trip back to the 80’s!

    Sorry about that. I tend to do stupid mistakes when I blog while: intoxicated, sick, on pain medication, tired, stressed, etc. Basically, that means I make a lot of mistakes. :-) I appreciate you pointing that out. In case you, or anyone else out there, really need to get your Go-Go’s on, I fixed it.

    I know you are prepping up some Lush and Sleeper for the next installment, right? Because it would be a crime if you don’t! Emma Anderson, Louise Werner and Miki Berenyi are pretty much the hottest women ever to hold a guitar (in that order too, in my opinion!). Miki = great voice/style; Louise = probably the most arousing voice I can recall; Emma = Queen of the Alternative Chicks, bar none . . .

    Your blog is the best, I need to say that more often! Thanks for all your efforts, I appreciate them.

    Harden My Heart was a great song. I never really dug too deep into the Quaterflash catalog though. The thing I most remember about that song is a bus trip to play a basketball game, and that song came on. One of the idiots on my team decided it would be funny to change the lyrics just a bit. I’ll leave it to your imagination as to what he changed it to.

    As far as Lush and Sleeper, I’ll admit that Sleeper hadn’t popped into mind, so great call! There were so many great (and incredibly great looking) female singers in the 90’s, it may be pretty hard to narrow it down! Especially if you add in the whole Riot Grrrl scene. Which, of course, I will, cause I love them girls!
