AN REM HOLIDAY WEEKEND!

Posted by Infonistacrat on Friday, July 3rd, 2009

I’m sitting here in the Detroit airport, waiting on my wifes plane to get in from Cali, and decided that instead of working, it would be better to listen to some music, write up a post, and have a little fun. I can only take work so long, and besides, everyone else in my [...]

SHUFFLING THE iPOD, DAY 3

Posted by Infonistacrat on Thursday, July 2nd, 2009

Last day in a hotel room for a few days…tomorrow, I am heading home. Sometimes, even with the roughest of jobs, you get a week where the stars align, the universe opens up, and everything goes well. It doesn’t happen often, but when it does, it’s a beautiful thing. And make no [...]

BACK TO THE FUTURE, I GUESS

Well, I had the new theme up for a bit, but there were a few tweaks I just could not get worked out. Mainly, I simply could not get it to work with Wordpress Stats. There were a few other things that kind of bugged the hell out of me, that I could [...]

GIMME THAT GREAT 80′S MUSIC! PART ONE

Posted by Infonistacrat on Sunday, February 17th, 2008

Going back to my roots on the next few posts, back to the 80’s. My decade, my favorite music. I started the 80’s as a naive 16 year old kid, and ended it as a worldly, jaded 26 year old man looking to prove something to the world. In between, there was the music that defined the edge, the music that inspired me, the music that made me who I am. Offbeat, sometimes bizarre, weird, and willing to take the path less traveled. The music of the 80’s have always been the soundtrack of my life.

What I wanted to find today was a few songs by artists and bands that I love, but that I maybe never really paid attention to at the time. For the most part, I think I accomplished it. With the exception of the songs by Real Live and Yazoo, I don’t recall ever really hearing the songs on todays list. I’m not going to say I haven’t, because god knows I at times had, ummm…how do I say this gently….altered states at times in the 80’s. So let me qualify it a bit. I don’t REMEMBER hearing most of these songs before. One that I KNOW I never heard was Midge Ure’s version of the David Bowie classic The Man Who Sold The World. So, enjoy, and look forward to some more great 80’s tunes this coming week!

  1. Bronski Beat – Smalltown Boy
  2. Camouflage – The Great Commandment
  3. Freur – Doot-Doot
  4. Kate Bush – Running Up That Hill
  5. Midge Ure – The Man Who Sold The World
  6. New Musik – Living By Numbers
  7. Nik Kershaw – Wide Boy
  8. Prefab Sprout – Bye Lucille (Johnny Johnny)
  9. Propaganda – Dr. Mabuse
  10. Real Live – Send Me An Angel
  11. Talk Talk – Such A Shame
  12. Tears For Fears – Mad World
  13. Trans-X – Living On Video
  14. Wham! – Young Guns (Go For It!)
  15. Yazoo – Don’t Go

    Sorry but,the Player isn’t working..

Thanks for the heads up. It’s all fixed now. Who would have thought I could misspell the date? Sorry the inconvenience!

80’s…now you’re really speaking my language. Thank you for a wonderful assortment :-)

PS – I think I’m the only one in the entire world that prefers Tears for Fears’ “Mad World” over the one by Gary Jules. TFF also did a fabulous, little-known (here in the states) song called “The Hurting.” Every time I hear it, it’s an emotional ride.

Track 10, “Send Me An Angel,” is by Real Life.

Spanky, thanks for letting me know about the typo. Sometimes I put this list together while watching the tube at night.

Miss Parker, I had a feeling you would be checking in. I hope you notice I put Doot-Doot in there just for you, since you were so kind to reference it the other day!

  6. MissParker0106 Says:

I noticed. :-) Thanks so much.

When you have a chance, hop on over to see my latest from Modern English. Also, I had a surprise visitor check in about the Dubh Chapter montage I made last month (Jan. 20). That’s what makes this all worthwhile.

Yeah, see, now I am *little* bit jealous! How cool is that comment? And when he say “you should be able to download it on the internet some where”, I nearly died laughing. What a very cool guy!

Oh, and the video…SO very cool, and such a great song. Modern English is one of the best!
