THE BIRTH OF GRUNGE: THE REALLY EARLY YEARS
I never thought I would say this, but free internet access sucks huge man. At least in the Pittsburgh airport it does. My meetings yesterday were over mid afternoon, so I packed up, and cabbed it to the airport. I figure I had 3 or 4 hours to kill until my flight, so I might as well spend it listening to tunes and posting. Wrong. Free internet access in Pittsburgh sucks. It’s slow, and takes forever to do anything in….worse than dial-up I’m here to say. So I gave up, and intended to repost something from the past. Until insomnia hit.
Of all the things I hate the most, it’s when I get a bout of insomnia. But today, it’s a good thing for you. I went to bed at midnight after getting home, and woke up wide awake at 4 am, and even the 4 hours of sleep sucked. So I headed to my computer, and decided to post today’s post. If your a fan of grunge, I think you’ll like it.
Here are some of the early grunge bands from the Seattle area that most people may not have heard of. Thats ok, a couple of them I didn’t hard of until I got this record called “Sleepless in Seattle, The Birth of Grunge”. It’s a great album, but it led me to do a little research. The research led me to perhaps one of the greatest blogs on the internet. If your a fan of grunge, and want to know the history of the whole Seattle scene, and by history, I don’t mean what the radio wants you to know, then head over to Lamestain and read up. It’s an amazingly detailed blog on the history of grunge from the early 80’s on. But before you go, listen to some great music that laid the foundation for all that great early 90’s stuff we all know and love. Enjoy!
