15 GREAT ARTISTS, 15 GREAT SONGS

December 2nd, 2007 · 1 Comment

First off, I want to throw out a happy birthday to my sister. A prouder brother there has never been. So if your reading this today (and I have no clue if she does), I know how stressful this past year has been, and how great the next year promises to be. Happy Birthday!

So, on to the playlist. I am a sucker for a good list. Or even a bad list. Doesn’t matter what the list is about, I just love to see how people rank things. Ask 100 people to list their favorite anything, and I promise you will get 100 lists, and everyone will swear theirs is the best. Of all the lists though, I love music lists the most. Nothing seems to get people so riled up as to same something like “These are the 15 best songs in history”.

I recently came across a list of the top artists from 1980 to 2006 by the radio station KROQ. I have no clue how they determined the list, but it’s a rather interesting list. So I thought I would spend a couple days on it, and list one song for each of the artists. So here today are the first 15 artists, listed in the order on which they appear on KROQs list. I don’t make any claim that these are the top 15 bands of the past 26 years. Nor do I claim that these are their best songs. These are just what I consider 15 great songs by 15 great artists. Don’t shoot the bartender, I’m just calling them as I seem them!
