My second repost, and I promise my last. In case your not aware, I cracked one of my molars biting on a super frozen Mickey Mouse ice cream sandwich at Disneyland. Stupid, I know. But over the course of a 4 days, the pain built to an intolerable level. So on Wednesday, I went and got the tooth yanked. So, between being uncomfortable and taking pain killers, my will to listen to music has been sapped. Crazy, I know. All I have been doing is eating soup and sleeping, and playing xBox. But I return tomorrow with original content!
The 90’s kind of limped in musically. If you listened to the radio or MTV in 90/91, you know what I’m talking about. The music scene had lost all the vibrancy of the mid-80’s, and by 1990, imitation hair bands ruled the airwaves. Honestly, it was enough to make me want to pierce my eardrums. There is some metal that I can take, but not much, and certainly not the crap that they were shoving down out throats in the late 80 and first few years of the 90’s.
Thank god that all changed. Slowly but surely, the alternative movement took hold. Then suddenly all hell broke loose when Smells Like Teen Spirit broke, and there was no turning back. Even MTV got interesting for awhile. Who can ever forget Dave Grohl taunting Axl Rose on the MTV music awards? Suddenly, it seemed that all this creativity that had been stifled by the big record companies broke loose, and amazing sounds were everywhere. Today’s list is a small sample of some of the big, great songs from the 90’s. Unfortunately, grunge and the alternative scene burned out as well, and was replaced by something ever more nauseating than hair metal…boy bands.
Depending on how I feel, there will be a second volume of this, because there was just way too many great songs from the 90’s. So put on some flannel shirts, some ripped jeans, and your worn out Chuck Taylors (or Doc Martins if you feel like getting dressed up!), and rock out to some great 90’s alternative!
Oh, and I still wear flannel, still wear my Doc’s, but alas, gave up the Chucks for Rocketdogs. What can I say, I grew up, grew older, and grew more refined. Uh huh.

Yeah, until Nirvana exploded, those years were real lean for any decent music. Those hair bands ruined everything.

Sounds like you would have a good court case against Disney! I agree about the hairy metal boys comment too.
