Yesterday I told you a little bit about how I spent 1982. Well, if that was one of the better years of my life, 1986 was definitely the worst. I started 1986 in love, married, and with a beautiful new baby daughter. By the end of the year, I was divorced, broken hearted, and in the Navy in San Diego. 1986 was the year my life changed forever. What I didn’t know was that it was for the better. As bad as 1986 was, it was the low point, and since then, I have been extremely fortunate. I now have two beautiful daughters, a wife that is amazing, and a career I never dreamed possible. So no matter what, it all works out in the end I guess.
The music I was listening to that year is rather dark in mood. I suppose it’s only natural, given where I was in my life. But hey, at least it was good! But looking back, I can see why a lot of people were a little worried about me. I mean, my best bud in the Navy and I were drinking a bottle of vodka a day. And not even good vodka. The really bad, cheap generic stuff. So this week coming up, I’m going to be back in California, celebrating with my wifes family. Only no vodka this time. This time, it’s all about the tequila baby, and being thankful for the fact that 1986 is only a distant memory.
