DEPECHE MODE MONDAY!

September 24th, 2007 · 1 Comment

Having spent the last few days flying to Chicago, loading a truck, driving to Charleston, SC, and then flying back to Detroit, it is fair to say I am beat. But I am back home, safe and sound, and nothing makes me feel better than listening to some Depeche Mode!

In the 80’s, these guys were flat out great. In the 90’s, DM was even better, and some of their best music was released in the midst of the alternative and grunge movements. After some serious drama, including David Gahan attempting suicide (failed, fortunately for all DM fans), and Alan Wilder leaving the lineup, the band has come back stronger than ever in the last few years.

While I find it odd that some people don’t care much for Depeche Mode, I can kind of understand why. Synth music like DM can sometimes border on the repetitious and irritating. I can’t say that I love all of DM’s stuff…some of it could be easily tossed and never missed. But when they are on, man, they are spot on. And even the people who claim to not like DM eventually admit to liking at least a couple of their greatest. So enjoy what I consider to be the best of Depeche Mode.

  1. Depeche Mode - It’s No Good

  6. Depeche Mode - Personal Jesus
  7. Depeche Mode - Everything Counts

They’re pretty hot. I like the sound of older music a lot better then the crap thats been coming out lately. The music industry is getting lazy these day.
