FEELIN’ THE 80′S!

September 12th, 2007 · No Comments

Well, it seems like I am an idiot. Not on purpose of course, but an idiot never the less. It seems the player on the site for half of yesterday was playing the play list from the day before. Sorry about that. Lets just say that Monday night was a really really bad night for me, and I just messed up.

I also realized that I promised more of my favs from last year, but as I was putting together the post, my mind kept humming these little tunes from the 80’s. Yeah, I know, it seems like I am obsessed with that decade. What can I say…that’s the decade I grew up in. In the 80’s, I graduated from high school, got married, had a beautiful daughter, subsequently got divorced, went into the military…a very busy 10 years, if I o say so myself. So, today, I am heading back to the future, and playing some more 80’s stuff. I’m not making promises about tomorrow though. Who knows what I’ll feel like then!

This list is a little different than most. The songs here bring back a memories of one sort or another to me. I’m not saying that I love all the songs here, but I will say that I love the memories they all bring to mind. I wish I could go through them all here, but you know, those belong to me, and I really prefer to keep them to myself. But I will share the music! Among the best is Promises In The Dark by Pat Benatar. The memory behind that song is probably one of the best. If I close my eyes, I can still hear that person belting out the best version I had ever heard. Quarterflash blasts me right back to high school…1980 or 81, I think. I had a friend that was obsessed with that song! And of course, the stupidest video ever on MTV, Patti Symth’s Warrior video, with her paited up like some kind of…hell, I’m not ever sure what she was supposed to be there. All I know is that they took what I thought was a little hottie, and turned her into a freak.

Oh, and has there ever been a band more tragically named than Katrina and the Waves? I suppose Katrina ruined that name for a lot of things.
